Getting started
Logging in
- Go to evaluchat.com.
- Click Sign in.
- Use the email your teacher registered for you.
- Follow the sign-in steps (magic link or password, depending on your school).
Tip: If you use a magic link and don’t see the email, check spam. Links expire — request a new one if needed.
Your assignments
After login you’ll see your assignments list. Each item shows the title, your progress, and status (Not started, In progress, or Submitted).

Start or continue
Open an assignment to enter the split-screen workspace: chat on one side, writing canvas on the other, assignment details in the top banner.
How the AI helps (and what it won’t do)
Talk to the AI like a writing partner. Ask for structure ideas, push back on weak arguments, try wording, and get feedback on drafts. What it won’t do is generate your entire essay from one short request — you have to put your thinking into words in the chat first.
- Explain your ideas — thesis, evidence, what you’re unsure about
- Negotiate language — clearer prompts unlock better help
- Draft on the canvas — keep ownership of the words you submit
- Revise with feedback — paste a paragraph into chat and ask what’s weak
Remember: The quality of the writing you get out tracks the quality of the language you put into the dialogue. That practice is also how you get better at writing — immediate feedback, not waiting for a mark weeks later.
Submitting your work
- Review your essay on the canvas.
- Click Submit in the banner (or chat actions).
- Confirm in the dialog.
- Your work locks to read-only. Your teacher sees the canvas and the chat.
Heads up: You can’t edit after submit. Do a final pass first. Your teacher can read how you prompted — that dialogue is part of the work.
Tips for success
Treat prompting as writing practice
Vague asks get vague help. State your claim, name the evidence, say what tone you want. The clearer you are in chat, the more useful the AI becomes — and the more your own language skills get a workout.
Write first, polish later
Get ideas onto the canvas early. Structure and polish are easier once there’s something real to revise.
Sessions are fine
Take breaks. Come back with Continue assignment — your work is saved as you go.
Own your drafting
Your teacher can see the chat and process signals (like how much was pasted vs typed). Write in your own words; use paste for short attributed quotes, not whole essays from another AI window.
Frequently asked questions
Can the AI write my whole essay from one prompt?
No. That’s the point of the constraint. You need to contribute ideas and language in the dialogue before substantial drafting help can unlock.
Is this the same as ChatGPT?
It feels similar — conversational AI for writing — but it’s built for school: constrained generation, a canvas for your draft, and a transcript your teacher can review.
Can I submit more than once?
No. Submission locks the document. Be sure before you confirm.
What if I close the browser?
Work is saved as you type. Reopen the assignment and continue.
Can I review old assignments?
Yes. Submitted items stay on your list for review.
Can I message my teacher in-app?
Not yet. Ask your teacher outside the platform if you need help.
